But Rally Portugal has built its reputation on unpredictability, and the final day delivered one of the most dramatic twists of the 2026 FIA World Rally Championship season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A puncture on the penultimate stage shattered Ogier’s hopes of victory, allowing Thierry Neuville to seize the lead and claim a hard-fought triumph. Oliver Solberg’s mature and consistent performance earned the young Swede a superb second place, while Elfyn Evans completed the podium after another measured drive through one of the championship’s toughest gravel rallies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following Friday’s closely contested battle, S\u00e9bastien Ogier began Saturday with a slender 3.7-second advantage over Thierry Neuville. With such a narrow margin separating the two title contenders, there was no room for caution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Frenchman once again demonstrated why he remains one of the greatest rally drivers in history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rather than chasing spectacular stage victories, Ogier concentrated on consistency. With four GR Yaris Rally1 cars occupying four of the top five positions, Toyota Gazoo Racing appeared to have the rally firmly under control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ogier led comfortably, Pajari continued his breakthrough performance, Solberg remained in podium contention and Elfyn Evans quietly consolidated fifth position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
