Victory belongs to the one who can combine speed with patience, courage with restraint, and keep a cool head when others lose theirs on the icy mountain roads. The third day of the 94th edition of the legendary event once again proved why the opening round of the FIA World Rally Championship is regarded as the toughest and most unpredictable challenge on the calendar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After Saturday\u2019s special stages, Oliver Solberg is closer than ever to victory. The Swede, co-driven by Elliott Edmondson, not only retained his lead but also extended his advantage over his rivals and now stands on the verge of the greatest success of his career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the service park in Gap, one question is being asked more and more frequently: are we witnessing the emergence of a new World Rally Championship title contender?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Rally That Never Forgives<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Only a few years ago, many experts wondered whether Oliver Solberg would be able to carry the weight of a surname that means so much in rallying. At one point during the day, it became clear that his main task would be to defend second place and wait for a possible mistake from Solberg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That does not mean, however, that he has surrendered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The WRC has proven many times that a rally only ends at the finish of the final special stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ogier and the Unfulfilled Dream of the French Fans<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Every appearance by S\u00e9bastien Ogier in Monte Carlo generates enormous excitement. The Frenchman is a living legend of the event and one of the greatest specialists on these Alpine roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once again, he was in contention for the top positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, even his vast experience was not enough to match Solberg\u2019s pace. The eight-time world champion drove consistently, avoided mistakes and maintained a strong rhythm, but his deficit to the leader continued to increase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even so, Ogier remained on the podium and still retains a mathematical chance of victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fans know better than anyone that if there is one driver capable of capitalising on the slightest error from a rival, it is the Frenchman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fourmaux Became the Hero of the Evening<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Although most of the attention was focused on the fight for victory, one of the biggest names on Saturday evening was Adrien Fourmaux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Frenchman delivered a spectacular performance and claimed victory on the super special stage, sending the home crowd into celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Hyundai, it was a much-needed moment of joy after a difficult start to the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reigning world champion has struggled to find his rhythm since the beginning of the rally, and Saturday brought no breakthrough. Throughout the day, the Belgian was focused primarily on limiting the damage and maintaining his place among the frontrunners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A deficit of more than seven minutes to the leader has effectively ended his hopes of victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Neuville remains an experienced competitor, however, and he knows that every point scored at the start of the season could prove crucial in the battle to defend his title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Monte Carlo Always Has One More Surprise<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The history of this event is full of examples of rallies that were turned upside down in the final kilometres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
