The South Swedish Rally, “The Grand Finale – Real Rally”, wrapped up the Swedish Rally Championship on 12 and 13 September. The event began with a shakedown on Friday, followed by nine competitive stages on Saturday. With the season’s titles on the line, the stakes were high, and the weekend delivered plenty of excitement, drama, and unexpected turns.
4WD Category
In the 4WD class, Toyota driver Dennis Rådström and co-driver Sunniva Rudi came into the final with a strong lead after three victories in four earlier rounds. Rådström started the rally with a 22-point lead, but his main rival Kalle Gustafsson was determined to fight until the very end.
Out of five starters, only two cars managed to complete the rally. Gustafsson and his co-driver Tom Törngren took the rally win with a time of 1:02:56.4, ahead of Rådström and Rudi, who finished second, +1:29.5 behind. Despite Gustafsson’s victory, the points were not enough to overtake Rådström, who secured the 2025 Swedish Championship title with 123.5 points compared to Gustafsson’s 109.5.
Kim Nydén, who had also been in the title hunt, showed early speed by winning the opening stage. Unfortunately, a mechanical failure forced him to retire on Stage 4, leaving him third overall in the championship standings.

2WD Category
The 2WD class had been the most unpredictable going into the final. Only six points separated the top three drivers: Liam Berg led with 59 points, followed closely by Patrik Flodin and Patrik Dybeck. With the competition so tight, it was clear that whoever reached the finish first would likely be crowned champion.
However, the rally proved unforgiving. Patrik Flodin crashed on Stage 4, ending his hopes of a championship victory. He finished the season fourth overall. Patrik Dybeck also suffered misfortune, going off on Stage 8. That incident dropped him from third to fifth in the championship standings.
This left Liam Berg in control. By simply finishing the rally, he was able to secure enough points to claim the 2025 Swedish 2WD Championship. Berg crossed the line in second place, behind rally winner Patrik Hallberg and just ahead of Elliot Sjögren, who completed the podium.

Out of the 61 crews that started the rally, only 35 managed to finish, proving once again that the South Swedish Rally is as tough as it is thrilling.
