Record-Breaking Start to BCIC Rally Barbados 2025

The 2025 BCIC Rally Barbados began with an impressive turnout, featuring a record 122 cars from 14 countries. The opening day of the event started at 7:00 PM on Friday, May 30, with three night stages scheduled. However, the second stage, Malvern to Sweet Vale 1 (SS2), was cancelled due to safety concerns.

The rally began with the first special stage at Bushy Park. Adam Mallalieu, driving a Fiesta R5, finished first with a time of 1:36.1. He was closely followed by Kyle Gregg, in a Fiesta Rally2, who was just 0.2 seconds behind. Stuart Maloney, the 2024 Rally Barbados champion and 2025 King of the Hill, placed third in his Fabia RS Rally2, only 0.6 seconds off the lead.

Unfortunately, SS1 saw the first incident of the rally. Savio Walcott and Christian Hinds, competing in a BMW 318 Ti Compact E36, crashed near the bridge section of the stage. There were no reports of injury, but their vehicle was damaged.

Due to the cancellation of SS2, the third stage became the second competitive run. It was held again at Bushy Park. Adam Mallalieu maintained his lead. Stuart Maloney moved up to second place, 0.9 seconds behind Mallalieu. Kyle Gregg dropped to third, trailing the leader by 1.2 seconds.

The event continues over the weekend, with competitors preparing for more challenging stages ahead.
